How to change the audio language on Netflix
Open the audio settings
Start playing any show or movie on Netflix. Move your mouse to see the player controls. Click the speech bubble icon in the bottom-right corner of the player.
A panel will appear showing available audio tracks and subtitles.
Select your target language
Under Audio, you'll see a list of available languages. Click the one you want. The audio switches immediately — no need to restart the episode.
Most Netflix originals offer 10-20 language options. Older or licensed shows may only have 2-3.
Set a default audio language
Go to Account → Profile → Language. Change the display language to your target language. Netflix will now default to that language's audio whenever it's available.
This also changes the Netflix interface to your target language — extra immersion for free.
Choose the right subtitle pairing
For maximum immersion, match subtitles to the audio: - Spanish audio + Spanish subtitles — best for learning - Spanish audio + English subtitles — easier, but you'll read instead of listen - Spanish audio + no subtitles — advanced; try this after 100+ hours
Start with matching subtitles. Drop them when you're ready.
Not every show has every language
Netflix originals (Stranger Things, Wednesday, etc.) usually have the most language options. Licensed content may only offer the original language plus English.
Tip: Search for shows originally made in your target language. The audio will sound natural, not dubbed. Search "Spanish TV shows" or "Korean dramas" in the Netflix search bar.
Track what you watch
Once you've switched the audio, your immersion time matters. Tracking Languages automatically detects the audio language on Netflix and counts every minute — no setup needed.
