How to build a daily immersion habit
Start with 10 minutes
Not 60. Not 30. Ten minutes. It's so small it feels silly to skip.
Watch 10 minutes of a show over breakfast. Listen to 10 minutes of a podcast on your walk. Once it's automatic, bump it to 15, then 20.
Stack it on an existing habit
Attach immersion to something you already do every day:
- •Morning coffee → 15 min YouTube in your target language
- •Evening wind-down → one Netflix episode, target language audio
- •Cooking dinner → cooking show in your target language
- •Commute → podcast or YouTube audio
You're not adding time. You're swapping what fills it.
Use streaks
Seeing "12-day streak" makes you not want to break it. That's the point.
If you miss a day, don't spiral. The hours you've already accumulated don't disappear. Start a new streak.
Set a goal you'll actually hit
If you're missing your daily goal most days, it's too high. Lower it. A goal you hit every day is better than an ambitious one you hit twice a week.
15-30 minutes daily is the sweet spot. Consistency beats intensity.
